Pawleys Island
Local Notes
Pawleys Island is one of the oldest summer resort communities on the East Coast. The historic beach cottages — many over a century old — line a narrow barrier island where commercial development is almost nonexistent and the pace is set by the tide. The famous Pawleys Island hammocks have been hand-woven here since the 1880s, and the surrounding Lowcountry includes Brookgreen Gardens, Hobcaw Barony, and some of the best inshore fishing in South Carolina.
Our Tanger Outlets studio is about 35 minutes north on Highway 17 — a real drive, but one Pawleys Island visitors often combine with a half-day at the outlets, a stop at Brookgreen, and dinner along the way. We see plenty of Pawleys clients during peak season: families renting cottages on the South Causeway, golf groups staying at Litchfield, and bachelorette parties who chose Pawleys for its historic charm rather than the busier Myrtle Beach scene.
