Calabash
Local Notes
Calabash sits just over the North Carolina state line, a small fishing village famous for "Calabash-style" seafood — a light-fried preparation that originated here and gave the town a national reputation. The waterfront still has working shrimp boats, and the row of seafood restaurants along River Road draws crowds from across the Grand Strand who drive over the line specifically for dinner. North of Calabash, Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle Beach offer some of the quieter coastal stretches in the region.
Our Tanger Outlets studio is about 30 minutes south on Highway 17 — a short drive that Calabash and Sunset Beach visitors often combine with an outlet shopping afternoon. We see Calabash clients for bachelorette weekends, mother-daughter trips, and golf-week groups staying at Sea Trail or one of the coastal resorts in Brunswick County. North Carolina visitors get the same Tanger Outlets experience while still in the Carolinas, with the bonus of crossing the SC line for an Evermore appointment.
For Calabash-area private events — beach houses on Sunset Beach, the Calabash Nautical Gifts area, or a wedding at one of the local venues — we travel from Myrtle Beach with the full welding studio. Permanent jewelry from the SC/NC border becomes a marker of the trip itself.
