Most ear piercings happen at mall kiosks or big-box stores. Ours happen in a curated, intimate studio where every detail — the lighting, the jewelry selection, the process — is designed for a luxurious, comfortable experience.
We use a hand-pressured needle system, not a piercing gun. This results in a cleaner, more precise piercing that heals faster and causes significantly less tissue trauma than gun piercing — especially important for cartilage placements.

Ear Piercing FAQ
Piercing guns use a blunt stud forced through the earlobe at high pressure, which tears and crushes tissue rather than cutting cleanly. This results in longer healing times, higher risk of infection, and more swelling — especially on cartilage, where guns should never be used at all. Our hand-pressured needle creates a clean, precise opening that heals faster and with less trauma. It's the professional standard.
Most clients describe a quick pinch — nothing more. Lobe piercings are considered among the least painful body modifications you can get. Cartilage piercings (helix, tragus) have a slightly stronger sensation, but are still very manageable. Our team is trained to help nervous clients feel relaxed and comfortable throughout the process.
We pierce children of any age for standard lobe piercings. A parent or legal guardian must be present and provide written consent for all minors (under 18). For cartilage piercings, we recommend clients be at least 12 years old for proper healing.
Lobe piercings typically heal in 6–8 weeks with proper aftercare. Cartilage piercings take longer — usually 6–12 months for full healing. We provide saline aftercare spray with every piercing and will walk you through proper cleaning techniques. The most important rules: don't touch with unwashed hands and don't rotate the jewelry.
We recommend waiting 24–48 hours before swimming after a fresh piercing, and avoiding saltwater and chlorinated pools for the first 2 weeks if possible. If you do swim sooner, rinse the piercing immediately afterward with saline spray. Fresh piercings and beach/pool water can be mixed — just mindfully. Many of our Gulf Shores vacationers get pierced near the end of their trip to minimize time in the water.
All initial piercings are done with implant-grade titanium starter jewelry — ASTM F136 titanium, which is 100% nickel-free and hypoallergenic. This is the gold standard for healing piercings. After your piercing is fully healed, we can upgrade to gold-filled or solid gold jewelry on a follow-up visit.
